Dancing has been a passion
with Bharatanatyam dancer Namita Bodaji. Namita pursued her passion
sincechildhood. It was but natural that she took it up as her profession
too. She learnt this glorious dance form from the illustrious gurus of Sri
Rajarajeshwari Bharata Natya Kala Mandir, Guru G. Vasant Kumar in
particular. Namita has received the title of "Singar Mani" from the
prestigious Sur Singar Samsad. Namita is also a yoga practitioner and a
trained yoga teacher. She conducts special camps for dancers titled "Yoga
for Dancers". |

Workshop,
Choreography, Teaching and Other Experience:
Conducted three-day workshop
at Falmouth, Cape Cod, USA at the Dance Vision 2000 Festival- and also a
series of workshops in 2001 in Falmouth and Woodshole, Cape
Cod.
Conducted a workshop in a children's bookstore "Eight Cousins"
in Falmouth, Cape Cod. Conducted a Bharatanatyam workshop in Yoga Sadhana
Studio, Pittsburgh in 2001.
Lead the "Spirituality of India
Festival" in 2003, the focus of which was examining aspects of cultural
change in India, including conservation and care for animals and nature.
Choreographed for several
institutes and schools. Was one of the members of the Group Study Exchange
program for professionals organized by the Rotary International
Foundation, which visited Pittsburgh in the year 2000. Namita trains
seriously inclined students in Bharata Natyam at her institute Samskara
Academy for Performing Arts. She has also choreographed some contemporary
dance pieces like "Winged Migration", "All the People in the World" and
Shakespeare's "Seven Ages of Man". |
